HANDPICKED, HANDMADE AND UPCYCLED JEWELRY

Hi, I’m happy you stopped by my page! I’m Mari Nelson, the owner, designer and creator of Mariposa Jewelry Works. The booth I developed is a carefully curated selection of jewelry where in "treasure hunt" style, one will find unique, expressive jewelry designs and well crafted artisan pieces of the vintage, upcycled and handmade variety. All designs are created and/or selected from my perspective as a professional jeweler. Over the last year, I have been consistently hunting for alluring trinkets and have grown an impressive assortment of handpicked vintage pieces. I’ve also had more time on the bench in my home studio to create jewelry designs of my own. One of my main focuses in this arena has been through a process called “upcycling”, where using my experience with jewelry restoration and repair, I combine multiple components of broken, abandoned or otherwise unwearable sterling silver jewelry pieces from the past and refashion them into an entirely new artisan piece. This recycling process not only allows for old pieces (or parts of them) to continue to be enjoyed for many years to come but also diverts materials that might otherwise have been scraped, from entering the waste stream. I also continually seek avenues to source jewelry for my booth that help to provide artisans, as well as myself, a dignified standard of living. I have a high level of respect for jewelers in Taxco, Mexico who are known for creating some of the most imaginative jewelry in the world. I have continued to work with them over the past year to add jewelry selections with their touch of fine design and craftsmanship in silver to my booth. All in all, I have an adoring affection for each and every one of the pieces I feature and it truly delights me to share the pleasure they bring to me with the rest of the world.

It has been about a couple years now since I left my full time bench jeweler position in downtown Seattle to give self employment a go. What an exciting and challenging adventure it has been! Aside from the work with my booth, I have been contracting bench work with other local jewelry designers to help them execute their ideas. I’ve also acquired clients with whom I’ve worked on some great custom jewelry and repair projects. I am always open for more of this type of work so if you or someone you know has a jewelry project in mind, be in touch! I’ve grown a lot over the past year with thanks to many of you for your support. Below are links to my Etsy and Ebay shops. There are also links to my social media where you can support my business without having to purchase anything. A simple like, comment, or share helps get my name and business out there. Thanks to everyone for the continued support!
